The life of every team, every organization begins with the first step taken by enterprising people who decided to start a new business. For the staff of Moscow Polytechnic University, such a step and the beginning of a complex but vivid history of the university's development was the organization of a small craft school in Moscow, which eventually turned into one of the leading secondary technical educational institutions in tsarist Russia – Komisarov Technical College (KTU).At the end of 2015, the academic Councils of the Ivan Fedorov Moscow State Pedagogical University and MAMI announced their intention to merge into a large multidisciplinary polytechnic university.
In 2016, by the decision of the meeting of the Academic Council, the Institute of Graphics and the Art of Books was named after the famous master of portrait, woodcut and book graphics, art critic, muralist and teacher who worked at the MPI, Professor V.A. Favorsky.
Since September 1, 2016, the University of Printing has become the Higher School of Printing and the Media Industry within the Moscow Polytechnic University.A complex of 10 student houses (dormitories) with a developed infrastructure, an affordable location and the necessary living conditions for living. It is intended for temporary residence of students of the Moscow Polytechnic University.
